Tell us about the business

Two quick taps and we are off.

Pick a business size and your software to continue.

Quote in your inbox within one business day. No follow-up sequence.

If your books are months behind, you are not the first person to land on this page hoping someone takes the problem off them. People come to us six months, twelve months, sometimes two years behind. We catch up. The situation is usually more fixable than what you have been imagining at 3am.

The first call is a triage. Fifteen minutes. We figure out roughly what state things are in and what the cleanup looks like. You get a fixed quote in writing. From there, you decide.

Everything we discuss stays between us. Confidentiality is not a bonus, it is the baseline. You will not be lectured, you will not be pitched, and nobody will look at you funny for having let it slide.

Where catch-up bookkeeping actually helps

The real before-and-afters. Each pain on the left is something we hear most weeks. The fix on the right is what changes once we are running.
  • I have IRS notices on the kitchen counter I have been ignoring for six months
Bring them to the triage call. We tell you what each one actually means and organize your records so your CPA or EA can respond.
  • I do not even know how many quarters I have fallen behind on
We pull your account history during onboarding and lay out exactly what is outstanding. No guesswork.
  • My QuickBooks file has not been opened in eight months and I am scared of what is in it
We open it for you. Most files are less broken than the owner imagines. We tell you the truth either way.
  • I think I owe the IRS money and I have no idea how I'd pay it
We help organize the actual numbers before quoting. Payment plans with the IRS are common; your situation is rarely as bad as your imagination.
  • I am embarrassed to talk to a bookkeeper about how far behind I am
We genuinely don't care how far behind. We've seen worse. The triage call is fifteen minutes, free, and judgment-free.

How a catch-up actually runs

We work backwards through your books in chronological blocks. Bank statements, vendor invoices, customer receipts, payroll records, and any IRS or state correspondence all get pulled into a single dataset. Reconciliations happen month by month, oldest to newest, until the file is current.

Most catch-ups land between two and six weeks. A small sole proprietor six months behind tends to wrap inside a fortnight. A growing business eighteen months behind with payroll, multiple bank accounts, and IRS correspondence might run six weeks. The fixed quote sets the time as well as the cost.

While the cleanup runs, you can keep running the business. We work in your file in parallel; you don't need to set anything aside. Each week we send a short progress note: months reconciled, what we found, what's coming next. There are no surprises and no scope creep.

How catch-up bookkeeping with Bookflexy runs

Three steps from first call to the boring monthly rhythm. Boring is the goal here, the books should be the least dramatic part of your week.
  1. Step 1

    15-min triage call

You tell us roughly how far behind, what software you are on, and what's been showing up in the mail from the IRS. No judgment. We listen.

  2. Step 2

    Fixed-quote rescue

We send a written fixed quote. If you say yes, we get to work. Most catch-up jobs run two to six weeks depending on scope. You see the work happening in your file.

  3. Step 3

    Caught up. Optional handover.

Your books are current and clean. From here you can take it back in-house or roll into our monthly retainer. No pressure.

"I was 14 months behind and I had ignored two IRS notices. I was waking up at 3am thinking about it. The first call with them was the first time I felt like it was actually fixable. Six weeks later we were caught up and they are my regular bookkeeper now."
Greg, building inspector, Columbus OH

Why US small businesses choose Bookflexy for catch-up bookkeeping

No judgment, ever

We routinely take on businesses 6 to 24 months behind. If we made every client feel like an idiot, we would not have any clients. Showing up is the hard part. The rest is bookkeeping.

Confidentiality, by default

Anything you share on the triage call stays with us. We are bound by professional confidentiality. Your CPA, your spouse, the IRS: none of them hear anything from us without your say.

IRS notices organized

If you have IRS correspondence sitting in a pile, bring it. We organize your records so your CPA or EA can respond, and we tell you straight what each notice actually means.

Fixed quote, no creep

The quote is the price. If something genuinely changes scope mid-project, we tell you before the meter ticks, not after. You will not get a surprise invoice.

Calm, methodical process

We work backwards through your books in chronological blocks. You can watch the months fall into place in QuickBooks or Xero as we go, which is satisfying after the year you have had.

Clean handover when done

Whether you go back to running it yourself or onto our retainer, the file we hand back is one your CPA will not complain about.

Fifteen minutes is enough to know it is fixable

No commitment. Tell us the situation, hear what is involved, decide later. The triage call is the hardest part.

Three catch-ups, three rescues

A rough sense of what cleanups look like at different states of behind. Each is a real shape we run regularly.

Sole proprietor, six months of unreconciled feeds, one quarterly deadline missed

Common starting point. Books drifted after a busy quarter, the estimated tax deadline came and went, and now the next one's looming. No IRS notices yet.

What changes

  • Six months reconciled in two weeks
  • Missed quarter caught up ahead of the next deadline
  • Next deadline met on time, no panic
  • Optional handover to monthly retainer

How pricing works for catch-up bookkeeping

No flat tiers. Every quote sized to your business. The form takes about 60 seconds and the answer arrives the same day.

We do not publish a flat catch-up rate. The honest reason is that twelve months of one contractor's books is a fundamentally different job than twelve months of a multi-staff restaurant with a POS, payroll, and an IRS payment plan. Either you would be over-quoted or we would be losing money.

What you get instead is a fixed quote in writing after a 15-minute triage call. The quote is the quote. Most catch-up rescues land somewhere a lot less scary than the number you have been imagining.

Pricing factor

How far behind

Six months versus eighteen months versus two years all carry different scopes. We measure this on the triage call against your actual data, not your estimate.

Pricing factor

Transaction volume

A sole proprietor with light volume is a different job than a multi-staff hospitality business at the same months-behind point. The number of transactions matters more than the calendar.

Pricing factor

IRS state

Active IRS correspondence (notices, payment plans, penalty letters) adds work. We organize records to support your CPA or EA, but responses need to happen on statutory timeframes.

Pricing factor

Software state

A clean QuickBooks file just needing reconciliation is faster than a half-set-up file with a broken chart of accounts. Where the software needs cleanup, that is included.

Pricing factor

Payroll catch-up

Prior-period payroll tax filings, missing deposits, corrected W-2s or 1099s. Each adds complexity. Quoted alongside the books work.

Pricing factor

Records availability

If most records exist (statements, invoices, payroll records), we work fast. Where records are missing, reconstruction is slower and we tell you which gaps cannot be closed.

Industries we work with

We carry the AU compliance angle for each of these verticals into the bookkeeping. Pick yours for the specialised page.

What clients say

"Honestly, my books were a mess. Six months of receipts in a shoebox, quarterly taxes overdue, the works. They didn't make me feel like an idiot for it. Three weeks later we were sorted, and now I just send them my Square exports each month and forget about it."
Mia, cafe owner, Portland OR
"I was 14 months behind and I had ignored two IRS notices. I was waking up at 3am thinking about it. The first call with them was the first time I felt like it was actually fixable. Six weeks later we were caught up and they are my regular bookkeeper now."

Catch-Up Bookkeeping FAQ

Two things to remember

Every account is reconciled and kept tax-ready by an AIPB-certified bookkeeper. Every account is run inside the US, by a US-based bookkeeper. Those two facts shape almost every other decision on this page.

Let's get you back on track.

A 15-minute call, a fixed quote, and a cleanup that ends. The hardest part is making the call.
